FLICKER (FLIMMER)
Because, says Jennie, “I love Swedish films. They do comedy right!”
Directed by Patrik Eklund
Starring: Kjell Bergqvist, Allan Svensson, Anki Larsson
From Sweden (by way of the Coen Brothers, The Office and Napoleon Dynamite) comes this hilariously deadpan tale of a utility company determined to modernize, though fate has other plans. Things at Unicom were sliding downhill even before a massive power outage plunged the citizens of tiny Backberga into darkness. But the post-blackout fallout is nothing short of disastrous: There’s the boss who dreams a superhero will save the day; the lonely-hearted janitor with a paralyzing fear of spiders; the pair of technicians reeling from high-voltage close encounters; and a hapless middle-manager caught in a Sisyphean cycle of computer meltdowns. Writer-director Patrik Eklund (Oscar® nominee for 2010’s Instead of Abracadabra) lenses his lovable small-town losers in 1970s shades of brown and orange, lending a retro quality to the film’s undeniable charm. But with references to 4G networks, “noobs” and Blue Screens of Death, this is surely 21st-century comedy at its finest.

Then there is this little tid-bit —-> here. I don’t know what’s going on there, but nor do I really care beyond that it pretty much confirms that I want to see this film… who knew the Swedish were so wacky? (Well, apparently Jennie)
